Patronage Pays

Here’s a prime example of why I’ll never vote for Ben Mulroney when he eventually manages to slime his way into the Conservative Party of Canada. (Or whatever it will be called by then.):

“Whether anyone wants to hear this or not, this is a fact: Patronage, in and of itself, is not a bad thing. There is nothing intrinsically evil about placing trusted and dependable allies in positions of authority. All things being equal, you pick your friends.” — Ben Mulroney, August 14, 2004, CNEWS
